Founded in September of 2011 by Anthony Baranta to teach adults the benefits of proper fitness training and nutritional instruction in a friendly environment, CrossFit Athletic Academy in Holtsville is a family-owned and -operated fitness facility that offers CrossFit training classes, personal training, Olympic lifting, strength training and more. As the owner of CrossFit Athletic Academy, Baranta has been Cross-Fitting for the past three years and studying martial arts for the past 12 years. After he graduated high school, he began teaching adults and found what he wanted to be doing for the rest of his life. His learned the CrossFit method and currently teaches the programs at his fitness facility in Holtsville.

What is CrossFit? CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program used for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. CrossFit workouts consist of constantly varied, functional movements that deliver a fitness that is broad, inclusive, general and scalable for any participant at any level. All of the movements are taught safely and effectively under the close supervision of our thoroughly trained CrossFit trainers. You can also appoint a personal trainer, who will provide you with the information and instruction you need to reach your health, weight loss and fitness goals.
What can I expect from CrossFit workouts? Workouts will increase physical competence in 10 fitness domains: Cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. With workouts that are scalable, CrossFit can also help a person who is less active or an accomplished athlete by tailoring workouts so that each participant is challenged enough to deliver measurable results and personal athletic progress, according to the CrossFit Journal website.
